Lansing-Area High School Football Power Rankings After Week 1

Mason was the most impressive team in the first week of the high school football season.  Their 56-30 win at and Okemos squad vaults them into the number 1 spot in this week's poll.

Lansing Catholic defeated Waverly 28-13, a closer game than many expected. They fall to number 3 this week.  I Look for them to improve throughout the season.

DeWitt got a nice road win at Linden, 38-14.  Rob Zimmerman keeps the machine rolling in Panther Country every year.  They move to number 2.

And finally, Portland's 29-7 victory over Ovid-Elsie got my attention.  I like the Red Raiders this season.  They have a shot in the stacked CAAC White.  I have them at number 5 this week.

    The Cougars were disappointed in their 28-13 win over Waverly on Friday.  Look for improvement next week against Detroit Community.

    Came from behind to beat Jackson Northwest on Friday.  Will need to play better to beat Mason on Thursday.

    Shut out Remus-Chippewa Hills, 17-0.  They host Flushing on Thursday before the conference slate begins in Week 3.

    Rallied from behind to beat Homer at home in Week 1.  At Middleville-Thornapple-Kellogg in Week 2.

    Terrific road win at perennial power Fulton 45-12 puts them on the list for the first time.  Congratulations!!!

    Nice overtime win over Madison Heights Madison in Week 1.  The next tough game is in Week 4 at Dansville.
