Lansing-Area High School Football Power Rankings: Preseason

The Cougars battle Grand Rapids West Catholic in the Division 5 semifinals on Saturday immediately after MSU Women's Basketball on The Game 730 AM!

There are a ton of questions heading into the 2015 season in Lansing-area high school football.

Who will emerge in the wide-open CAAC Blue? And who will take the crowns in the loaded CAAC Red and White divisions?

Who will win a brutally strong CMAC?

And will it really be Lansing Catholic then everyone else this season?

    Lansing Catholic

    Last Season: 13-1

    They have the best player in the area in Tony Poljan.  The Minnesota-bound QB hopes to lead the Cougars one step further than last year.

    Grand Ledge

    Last Season: 7-4

    If anybody is the favorite in the CAAC Blue, it's Matt Bird's Comets.  They've got experience up and down the roster and could go far in 2015.

    Sexton

    Last Season: 13-1

    Despite losing QB Malik Mack and WR Reyshaun Wilbourne.  Coach Dan Boggan still has a lot of talent on his squad.  It's young, and if it improves, they could make another run to the playoffs.

    Mason

    Last Season: 8-4

    Four-year starting QB Jarrett Van Heuvel returns, along with RB Hunter Holbrook.  The Bulldogs were district champs last year.  And are going for more in 2015.

    DeWitt

    Last Season: 10-1

    Rob Zimmerman has churned out great QB's in recent years.  Will Nagle takes over for Jacob Johnson.  If Nagle plays well, a 10th straight playoff appearance will happen for the Panthers.

    Eaton Rapids

    Last Season: 8-4

    Mike Smith has brought the Greyhounds program out of the doldrums.  Zach Kemp takes over at QB for Jared McDaniel.  How he progresses will dictate how ER does in 2015.

    Ithaca

    Last Season: 13-1

    The 69 game winning streak is over but coach Terry Hessbrook has a loaded squad.  The Yellow Jackets are favorites to return to Ford Field on Thanksgiving weekend.

    Pewamo-Westphalia

    Last Season: 10-3

    Jeremy Miller really likes his team.  Their goal is to go from "The Cornfield to Ford Field"  If their youth grows up, that is a possibility.

    Portland

    Last Season: 4-5

    This could be one of the surprise teams in the area.  The talent is good, and they want to redeem themselves after a 4-5 season in 2014.

    Fowler

    Last Season: 10-1

    Kris Ernst led the Eagles to the CMAC title in 2014.  One of the best programs in state history should have another solid campaign in 2015.
