We just entered a brand new season with the Detroit Lions, and we all are sitting on the edge of our seats, waiting to see what it brings.

The Detroit Lions just locked up Jameson Williams, and it could be a good move for a team building toward something big. Detroit announced a contract extension that keeps the former first-rounder in Honolulu blue through the end of the 2029 season.

Numbers are still being settled, but multiple reports say this brand-new deal could be worth about $83 million. That fits what Williams became down the stretch last year. He is a true threat who stretches the field.

Contract Terms at a Glance

In 2024, he posted 58 receptions, 1,001 yards, and seven touchdowns. That’s the kind of production that matches what we’ve seen since he arrived.

Why Detroit Moved Now

His first couple of seasons could be called a little rough with the Detroit Lions, between injuries and suspensions, and, of course, the learning curve in Ben Johnson’s offense. Detroit kept pressing, and he kept grinding.

By season’s end, he was a weekly problem for defensive coordinators. Rushing wrinkles didn’t hurt either. The Lions mixed in jet action and touches that turned into bonus yards and points.

Stats Snapshot: 2024 & Career

In his career so far, he’s at 83 catches for 1,396 yards and 10 scores, plus 15 rushes for 130 yards and two TDs.

The Detroit Lions are paying for Williams, who he is right now and what he can become over the next few years. If 2024 was the takeoff, 2025 could be even better for him and the team.
