The Michigan Snow-Shoveling Habit That Makes No Sense
Being from the Great Lakes State, I feel like Michiganders are just born a little bit different when it comes to how we handle cold.
Why Michiganders Handle Winter Differently
I'm not saying every Michigander can handle the snow or even likes it. However, I do think Michiganders have the upper hand when it comes to dealing with cold and snowy winter weather for a couple of reasons...
- We've had years of experience. From good to bad to ugly, we've had several winters come and go and each one gives us a little more lived experience.
- We have the equipment to get us through; snow suits, hats, heavy duty gloves, shovels, snow blowers, and much more.
Which brings me to the issue at hand: what do you wear when you're shoveling snow?
What Do You Wear to Shovel Snow?
In a matter of hours, Michiganders had a BUNCH of snow dropped on us, which means lots of people are going to be out shoveling or snow blowing their driveways and sidewalks.
Do you wear proper attire, like a coat, hat, and warm pants?
Or, are you like my neighbor and you made the crazy questionable decision to shovel snow while wearing shorts?
SHORTS!
I mean, I was cold just looking at him.

Is he originally from Alaska or Antarctica? Because I feel like it's the only thing that makes sense.
At the end of the day, he appears to be fine, but I still feel like he made a very poor decision. It's also worth mentioning that this wasn't the first time I've seen him shovel while wearing shorts...
Okay, rant over.
