Michigan State University's annual Homecoming Parade rolls through downtown East Lansing and onto campus Friday, October 9.

The parade itself starts at 6 p.m. at Abbot Road and Burcham Drive and is expected to finish on Farm Lane on the MSU campus around 7:15 p.m.
However, some of the road closures start hours before that.
East Lansing Road Closures Start at 2:30 Friday
According to the City of East Lansing, here's what drivers need to know:
2:30 p.m. to around 7 p.m.: Portions of Abbot Road, Centerlawn Avenue, Northlawn Street, Evergreen Avenue, Forest Street, Fern Avenue and Burcham Drive near the parade staging area.- 5:30 p.m. to around 7:15 p.m.: Abbot Road between Burcham and Grand River; Grand River between Harrison and Abbot; and Michigan Avenue between Harrison and Grand River.
- 5:45 p.m. to around 7:15 p.m.: Grand River between Abbot Road and the Collingwood Drive/Farm Lane area.
So basically, Grand River and Abbot are probably not where you want to be around dinnertime Friday unless you're actually headed to the parade.
Hannah Community Center and Library Closing Early
The Hannah Community Center closes at noon Friday because its parking lot is being used for parade staging. Vehicles left there after noon could be towed. The East Lansing Public Library also closes early at 2 p.m.
Where to Park for the MSU Homecoming Parade
If you're going to the parade, downtown East Lansing parking lots and garages will still be available.

And if you're not?
Maybe give yourself a little extra time and find another way around town.
