There are certain topics that Michiganders can discuss calmly and rationally.

Faygo flavors are not one of them.

Tell somebody from Michigan that their favorite Faygo flavor isn't even in your Top 10 and suddenly you've jeopardized a friendship.

So, with full knowledge that some of you are going to tell me I'm wrong, here's my completely subjective, scientifically meaningless and absolutely correct ranking of my Top 10 Faygo flavors.

10. Cola

Somebody has to stick up for plain old Faygo Cola. It's not flashy. Nobody's getting into a fistfight defending it. But it's solid.

9. Twist

Basically Faygo's answer when you want something light, lemon-lime and refreshing. Nothing complicated here.

8. Orange

Orange Faygo tastes like childhood. It's sweet, ridiculously orange, and I'm pretty sure it tastes better out of a 2-liter bottle at a family cookout.

7. Ginger Ale

Underrated. Maybe I'm showing my age here, but I've developed a genuine appreciation for a good ginger ale.

6. Cherry Cola

Regular cola says, "I'm fine." Cherry Cola says, "We can do better than fine."

5. Moon Mist

This is where the list starts getting serious. Citrus, caffeine and that unmistakable electric-greenish Faygo vibe. I'm in.

4. Peach

If you've never tried Faygo Peach because you're always grabbing one of the more famous flavors, fix that. Sweet? Absolutely. But man, it's good.

2. Creme Soda

This was very close to number one. Smooth, sweet, vanilla-ish goodness. Faygo Creme Soda is elite.

But there's one better.

1. Black Cherry

No hesitation. No recount necessary. Faygo Black Cherry is the champ. Sweet, tart, ridiculously refreshing when it's ice cold. This is the Faygo I'm reaching for first.

Now let's address the elephant in the room.

Why Rock N Rye Didn't Make My Top 10

Rock N Rye.

I know. It's iconic. It's one of Faygo's most popular flavors. People love it.

I can't stand it.

I've tried. I don't get it. You can have mine.

Why I Won't Drink Faygo Redpop or Grape

And before you come after me for leaving Redpop and Grape completely off the list, there's a reason.

When I was a kid, my truck-driver dad once ended up bringing home what seemed like an endless supply of Faygo Redpop and Grape when several pallets of the stuff couldn't be delivered. Cases of it literally took up space in the bedroom my brother and I shared.

For what seemed like years, if we wanted pop, we had two choices.

Redpop.

Or grape.

Eventually, a 10-year-old learns there really can be too much of a good thing. I haven't had either one ever again.

So there's my Top 10.

Now go ahead and tell me how wrong I am.

How Well Do You Know Faygo?

Including its sparkling water and Ohana-branded non-carbonated drinks, Faygo is responsible for more than 50 flavors of deliciousness. How many of these flavors can you identify just by their labels?
