First Look at PWHL Detroit’s New Jerseys and Their Motor City Details
Detroit has a brand-new hockey team to cheer for, and now we know what they'll be wearing this year.
A First Look at PWHL Detroit's Jerseys
PWHL Detroit unveiled its first home and away jerseys on October 8th, ahead of its inaugural season in the Professional Women's Hockey League.
And yes, there's a little Motor City worked into the design.
How the Jersey Design Honors Detroit
The home jersey features a black base with metallic silver accents inspired by Detroit's automotive history. White, silver and red stripes reference the city's 313 area code, while the red gives a nod to Hockeytown's long hockey tradition.
Across the front, "DETROIT" runs across the jersey, putting the city front and center.
The black and silver also feel like a good choice for Detroit. Add a little touch of red, and we're already giving a nod to the Detroit Red Wings, who are a Detroit favorite.
Why PWHL Detroit’s Jerseys Don’t Have a Team Logo Yet
The PWHL says Detroit's identity will be announced before the season begins. However, the name and logo aren't expected to be on the team's on-ice uniforms until the 2027-28 season.
For now, the city lettering follows the league's tradition for teams' debut seasons.
When PWHL Detroit Will Debut Its New Jerseys
Detroit will debut its white away jerseys in Las Vegas on December 6th. The black home jerseys will get their first game at Little Caesars Arena on December 12th against New York.
The cool part? If you would like a jersey for yourself, you can have one. Black replica jerseys, including personalized player options, are expected to go on sale during the week leading up to December 5-6.
