Just recently, it was announced that one of Potter Park Zoo's endangered animals fell ill, which caused a ruckus in the Mid-Michigan community.

What Happened at Potter Park Zoo?

Potter Park Zoo just shared some sad news about Doppsee, the critically endangered female eastern black rhino. It was reported, she began experiencing and displaying odd behavioral changes and a sudden decline in her health.

The veterinary staff moved quickly, assessed what they were seeing in real time, and followed up with medical treatment based on the symptoms that Doppsee displayed. Doppsee currently resides inside her barn, undergoing treatment and getting around-the-clock attention.

Potter Park Zoo took to Facebook, updating the community on her current health.

The zoo stated that she will continue to receive the highest level of care and treatment from the zoo staff.

Doppsee received an uproar of support on the zoo's Facebook profile, wishing her the best.

"#Doppseestrong you got this Doppsee feel better soon hope you pull through this" - Facebook commenter.

Even former zoo employees were wishing her the best in her recovery.

"Feel better Doppsee! I remember working with her when I was a teen zookeeper!" - Facebook Commenter.
Doppsee is currently 18 years old, born in July 2007. Doppsee was born at the Sedgwick County Zoo in Kansas, before coming to her home here in Lansing.
