SW Michigan Game Of The Week: Lakeshore @ Lakeview

For the last few years, we have had the opportunity to bring you all the Battle Creek Game Of The Week each Friday night. This meant we would feature at least one of the 4 prominent Battle Creek High Schools; Harper Creek, Battle Creek Central, Lakeview, and Pennfield, in a football broadcast each week. This year, we are expanding to include more schools in Southwest Michigan and truly search for the area's best game.

Although there are some changes being made, some things are staying the same. What's that old saying? Don't fix what isn't broken or something like that! That's our motto, our team is staying the same and so are the late season games where teams are making a push for the playoffs and others are trying to play spoiler.

This week is already Week 8 of the High School Football season and in Michigan that means the playoff picture is solidifying and some teams are nearing the end of their season. Week 8 can be a fun week full of games where teams are trying to squeeze into the playoffs while other teams are trying to be the reason they don't. That leads up to Lakeview High School as the Spartans take on the Lancers from Stevensville Lakeshore High School.

Lakeshore is coming into this game with an impressive 6-1 record where their only loss comes to their bitter rivals, the Bears from St Joesph. With two more games against Division 2 opponents, they could guarantee a playoff spot by winning both but I'm sure they'll be in if they split. Meanwhile, Lakeview comes in with the reverse record, 1-6, and looking for their second win to try and ruin the Lancers season.

We could be set up for a game that sees the Lancers roll on toward a hopeful playoff spot and Lakeview still trying to find a second win as they prepare to faceoff against crosstown rival Battle Creek Central. Or, this game could see Lakeview take control, have some momentum going into their matchup with the Bearcats, and put Lakeshore on the playoff ropes.

Pregame will start at 6:45 and kickoff will be at 7pm from Spartan Stadium at Lakeview High School. The booth will consist of Jacob Harrison as play-by-play and myself, Da'Jzon Hughes aka DJ will be on color commentary. A postgame show will follow where we will give out our Lakeview Ford player of the game as well.
