SW Michigan Game Of The Week: Kalamazoo Central @ Lakeview

For the last few years, we have had the opportunity to bring you all the Battle Creek Game Of The Week each Friday night. This year, we are expanding to include more schools in Southwest Michigan and truly search for the area's best game.

Although there are some changes being made, some things are staying the same. What's that old saying? Don't fix what isn't broken or something like that! That's our motto, our team is staying the same, but we are just looking to expand and provide the best High School Football coverage possible for Southwest Michigan.

The high school football season is already 2 weeks in and things couldn't be crazier. We have seen several blowouts, upsets, and surprising starts to the season for dozens of teams across the state. Battle Creek Central is 2-0 after wins over Forest Hills Central and Lansing Everett. Portage Northern had their 48-12 Week 1 loss to Caledonia overturned due to an ineligible player which makes then 2-0 on the year as well.

Those are just a few examples of the way the High School Football season has been different than the years before. Unfortunately for Lakeview, things haven't changed much as they are still struggling to win games and are searching for their first win in 2026. This week they will be hosting the Maroon Giants from Kalamazoo Central who are 1-1.

This week's game should provide more fireworks to the High School Football season. I remember back in year 1, Kalamazoo Central brought the fight to the Spartans in a high scoring game that saw over 21 points scored in the last 9 minutes of the 4th quarter. The Spartans hung on to win that game but have come up short in their last 3 meetings against the Maroon Giants. They are hoping that Quarterback Isaiah Jackson and company can bring another win to the Lakeview faithful.

This game will take place on Friday September 11th, pregame will start at 6:45, and kickoff will be at 7pm from Spartan Stadium at Lakeview High School. The booth will consist of Jacob Harrison as play-by-play, and I (Da'Jzon Hughes) will be on color commentary. A postgame show will follow where we will give out our Lakeview Ford player of the game as well.
