The Michigan winter wonderland named the No. 1 best destination for snow in America is the Upper Peninsula.

Gorgeous at all times of year, Michigan's U.P. is particularly stunning in the winter. Cold weather activities like skiing, snowboarding, fat-tire biking, and snowshoeing abound. In fact, two U.P. ski resorts have been ranked among the ten best in the U.S.

In particular, USA Today highlights Sault Ste. Marie and Marquette as excellent winter getaways.

As Travel Marquette says, "In the U.P. we don't just face winter, we embrace it!" Each winter, Marquette hosts activities like ice racing, holiday markets, ski jumping tournaments, and the Meijer Winter State Games.
