It's not every day you discover a dead body, and hopefully you never do. If you do find a dead body or any human remains, don't touch or disturb your find, and immediately contact the police.

Under Michigan law, failing to report a dead body is a criminal offense. If you locate a body and don't call authorities immediately, it is a misdemeanor; you could get up to a year in jail and up to a $1,000 fine. It gets trickier if you didn't report the death because you intended to conceal it; then it becomes a felony with a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison and up to a $5,000 fine.

According to FOX 2, Police say a Bloomfield Township man lived with his wife's corpse for two months. A neighbor reached out to authorities to perform a wellness check when they had not seen the neighbors for quite some time.

When the police made their way inside the home, they found 57-year-old Ariane Grunewald dead on the main level of the house. 53-year-old Dirk Grunewald was found in the master bedroom, surrounded by knives. A SWAT team convinced Grunewald to surrender, but he never said anything to the officers. He was then taken to a hospital to get evaluated, and has since been charged with failing to report a death and is being held on bond.
