Matt has covered professional, college, and high school sports in metro Detroit since the 1990’s. I got the opportunity to work with Matt back in early 2000’s when he was the host of Shep, Shower N’ Shave sports radio show on WDFN in Detroit and also syndicated across Michigan with the Michigan Sports Network. Matt was the play-by-play announcer for the Detroit Tigers from 2018-2024. He is currently the radio announcer for U of M basketball and Eastern Michigan football. Matt Shepard won Michigan Sportscaster of the Year 2015 and 2016. He also won the Ty Tyson Award for excellence in sports broadcasting, a Detroit Sports Media award, in 2018. He graduated from Central Michigan University in 1988. Fire Up Chips!
